Clan OF Xymox - Breaking Point

Discussions about the new generations of bands influenced by '80s New Wave and Postpunk

Clan OF Xymox - Breaking Point

Postby DJ Lestat » Mon May 08, 2006 11:39 am

Don't know if any COX fans on here but I just picked up their latest effort and its ok. It's got slight hint of an old school Xymox feel to it, as its very moody and melodic with some ovation guitar prevelant on a couple tracks. Weak In My Knees is the single, which was prety good with a couple good remixes. "She Is Dangerous" is another standout track. Nothing compares to their self titled, Medusa and Twist Of Shadows albums. I just wish bands like this would go straight back to the sounds of their first efforts but I guess they want to progress as musicians and constantly push forward.
Anyway thats my rant about it....:)

This album made me pee in my pants. Incredible. When you get the album, skip straight to track 3 and listen from there. Old school Clan of Xymox. Ronny and the gang are really back this time.

Without Peter and Anke, they'll never reach that sound again. I'll even take Phoenix over most crap they've recorded since then (except for Hidden Faces)[}:)]

Yeah the Phoenix was OK...but they did go a bit on the poppy side if you ask me.

"Wonderland" is one of my favourite songs. It has just the right amount of darkness in it mixed in with 90s Pop (yeah, it was definitely some kind of Pop-wannabe album).

Xymox. Incredible music group.

Dark music for the soul.

That is not necessarily a bad thing.

Just shows good musicians are capable of shaping, this odd-shaped world.
