New CDs by The Sounds and Birthday Massacre

Postby budaniel » Fri Apr 01, 2011 7:57 am

Okay, The Birthday Massacre CD is old news. Came out the end of last year, but I just learned about it. The new CD by The Sounds was just released this week--they went with some serious electronic dance sounds this time around As huge a fan as I am of electronic dance music (my favorite genre, essentially) I actually prefer The Sounds with a harder guitar sound. I have to give the new album a few more listens though.

I really liked The Sounds the last time around. Haven't heard much of the new stuff yet.

I have to agree with budaniel, I also prefer The Sounds on their previous records. This one has some okay moments but pop-rock electronica seems like an uneasy fit for them, at least to these ears.

It also seems a bit dated. Like the sound of 2004 or something....or maybe it's just because all the music that keeps getting sent to the radio station sounds like imitation Dum Dum Girls that I'm thinking this wall-of-sound stuff is what everybody is supposed to be into now.
