So, if I like Franz Ferdinand, Hot Hot Heat, and Bloc Party, who else should I check out?

Everyone has different tastes, so it would be nice if Hubsters do like Horrorrgrrl and make a sampler directory, of stuff they like. From her "Current Indie New Wave-Post Punk-Dream Pop" folder, I've liked Clinic, iClash, Cosmicity, Future Bible Heroes, Eisley, B! Machine and I've only started listening to the directory.

I have a "Crap I Like" folder, but be warned it's mostly NOT Next/New-Wave stuff.

Definitely check out Stellarstarr, Melody Club, Trembling Blue Stars, The Magnetic Fields, The 6ths, Pitty Sing (I predict this band will be the next big Next Wave band, following in the footsteps of The Killers & The Bravery), The Arcade Fire, THE DEARS! (especially if you a fan of The Smiths/Morrissey), The Delays, Blue October (the Austin, TX band - not the UK synthpop group - although you might like both of them), Royal Visionaries, Louis XIV, Caesars (their new album is just a good as "39 Minutes Of Bliss"), Radio 4, Action Action, Mercury Rev, TEGAN & SARA!, METRIC!, The Ladybug Transistor, I Am X (Sneaker Pimps' Chris Corner's solo project - definitely lots of New Wave sounds here), Moby's latest album - "Hotel" (very New Wave), Electric Six, The Rapture, Manic Street Preacher's latest album - "Lifeblood" (hell, they even have a song on it titled "1985" - retro sounds throughout), Of Montreal, The Essex Green (generally classified as "Twee-pop", but definitely grounded in a Smith's sensibility), Bettie Serveert, Blonde Redhead, THE STILLS! ("Logic Will Break Your Heart" is a brilliant debut album), Postal Service, SCARLING! (great, retro-sounding goth band with ethereal female vocals), Scissor Sisters, The Concretes, The Raveonettes, The Faint, and all the other great bands mentioned already in this thread. I might also suggest checking out download.com & soundclick.com for some great current indie artists in the New Wave genre - and all downloads are free! Hope this exhaustive list helps - if I think of any more I'll be sure to post!

Oh, and one more - Fischerspooner. They are classified as "electro-clash" and while their 2001 debut "#1" certainly falls into that category, their recent album "Odyssey" is definitely New Wave. Of course their first album has fat synth-sounds as well, and is definitely among my favorite albums of the new millennium.
