All These Things That I've Done video??

Postby Frau_Blucher » Wed Aug 17, 2005 9:37 am

Can anyone explain this Killers video to me?!! It's a monumentally good song, but I have no idea what the deal is with the cowboys and the hot busty chicks in 50's getups. I like it...but I've not got a clue!

BTW, you can't but think about The Damned's Alone Again Or video, what with the mustached cowboy and all.

2nd BTW, can any Bay Area folks explain to me what this channel KTSF and it's CMC show is? They're actually showing non-stop videos! What strange land have I arrived in? They even just played Berlin's No More Words just now. What a trip.

I think The Killers' "All The Things That I've Done" video is supposed to be an homage to the band's Las Vegas roots, with all the trashiness and glitter and desert surroundings. Plus, it was done by Anton Corbijn, who seems to really favor doing dusty Western-style videos featuring busty, lusty women (cf. DM's "Personal Jesus" and "Behind The Wheel" videos). That's how I can make sense of that particular video. The Damned's "Alone Again Or" video at least sorta had the feel of the "dusty old 19th century Mexico" feel of that particular part of their Love cover, so it does sorta make sense.

Sorry, can't help you out re: the Bay Area TV station, as I live over 2,000 miles away from that area. But damn, it sounds pretty good.

All the things that I've done video is great. It's very different from the other two Killers videos. It's more conceptual.

Don't know about the Killers video... but KTSF is a SF local-access channel that plays all kinds of great underground music videos from time to time. The only thing that annoys me is that sometimes they only play part of a video instead of the whole thing, but usually it's the best video show on, period. Lots of 80s and UK stuff is especially featured. They even have naked interviews with porn stars, and even though that doesn't involve music it's still very interesting.

The video is an homage to the 1965 Russ Meyer cult classic film "Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill!". The girls are look-alikes for the characters and are dressed in the same costumes (except they added an extra girl because there are four members of The Killers, in the original film thare are only three girls).
Just check Google Images for "Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill!" and you'll see how they duplicated the look of the film for the video.

Basically the plot of "Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill!" involves the three busty kidnapping she-devils rolling into a desert town and matching wits with/seducing some swarthy locals.
