Best Next Wave songs

Postby Dave » Wed Aug 31, 2005 11:22 am

I've always been more about songs than bands. Here are a couple of "Next Wave" songs that I'm hooked on at the moment. Care to mention your favs (best of the best)? Thanks!

The Postal Service - We Will Become Silhouettes
Interpol - Evil
Secret Machines - The Road Leads Where It's Led

The Postal Service - Recycled Air
Iron and Wine - Such Great Heights (Postal cover)

I'm glad to see someone give a shout-out to The Clientele. Their music is incredibly haunting, I've been playing their new song "Since K Got Over Me" at least a half-dozen times a day.

Thanks for the great suggestions Blir. Now I've got my homework cut out for me. I'm trying to avoid becoming the character that I always despised... an old fuddy duddy who only lives in the past! This looks like a great Next Wave primer.

I have to give props to Air, Daft Punk, The Rentals, The Faint, Solex (whose album I deleted by mistake[xx(] ), and even those p0seur dorks from Ladytron and Spiritualized. Better than most of the schtuff getting attention at the moment. Isn't that usually the case?[;)] They cut some of the sweetest music this side of the century[8D]

"Seventeen" by Ladytron
"He Took Her To A Movie" by Ladytron
"Playgirl" by Ladytron

Anything by Daft Punk and Air

"Friends Of P" by The Rentals

"Casual Sex" by The Faint
"Agenda Suicide" by The Faint

Excellent choices. I love everything I've heard so far from these guys. Can't wait for a full length release from them.

I agree with a lot of the earlier posts.

I'll add: "Fade" by Seven Color Sky (produced by The Psychedelic Furs' John Ashton), as well as "Just How Shy A Girl Can Be" and "Something So Good" from the first SCS disc. Not widely distributed but out there on numerous web sites as downloads.
