Bell Hollow

Discussions about the new generations of bands influenced by '80s New Wave and Postpunk

Bell Hollow

I've been a board member for a few years now and have posted/commented occasionally...

Anyway, I trust this won't be deemed as spam, but I thought I'd post some info on my new band, which is very much keyed into the new wave era. Fans of early '80s post-punk might really enjoy what we're doing. Truth be told, I am having more fun playing now than I did 20 years ago when I was in college...

You can read our bio and check out mp3 links below...

BELL HOLLOW
Bell Hollow are a new band based in Brooklyn, NY, melding '80s UK post-punk with nocturnal alt-rock and atmospheric shoegaze to form something highly melodic and mysterious…an evocative soundtrack to surreal dreams and oceanic tension.

They formed in February 2003 with the aim of creating bittersweet mood music, building on authentic experience in these genres (Christopher and Greg’s former groups The Naked and the Dead and The Children’s Zoo were part of NYC’s vital post-punk scene in the '80s).

Primary influences include The Chameleons, Suede, The Smiths, Comsat Angels, Slowdive, Echo and the Bunnymen, Jeff Buckley, Cocteau Twins, Radiohead, The Cure, The Verve, Depeche Mode, The Sound, Cranes, and The Teardrop Explodes.

Bell Hollow's debut consists of four shimmering tracks ("Our Water Burden," "Lowlights," "Late at Night," "Getting On in Years"), recorded during August-September 2005 in various studios in Brooklyn and NYC, and mixed by Hillary Johnson (Jeff Buckley, Ramones, Michael Gira, The Prids).
