The rules: name some current person, place, or thing that is today's version of some iconic something from the past. Does not need to be NW, though of course that makes it more fun.

For example:

"Nick Cave is today's Johnny Cash".

You can justify your post or not. It's up to you.

Iraq is todays Vietnam

George W. Bush is todays Lyndon B. Johnson [:D]
