I Want To Set Up My Own Server

Postby Jimbo » Wed Apr 30, 2003 11:36 am

What do I need to know if I wanted to set up my own server to host my 1980's music on?

If I were to say travel a bunch and wanted to have my music available over the internet anywhere in the world what would be the best way to do it?

I particularly concerned about bandwidth cost and staying on the right side of things legal.

I have a server that I own that is more than up to the job so all I need is some tips on the back end.

Thanks!

I would recommend at least a DSL line with a static IP address. Windows 2000 Server would be ideal with FTP access. I would close all incoming ports except for FTP.
