80's New England Bands

OK--After years of talking about it I will finally attempt to get some of my old vinyl--lots of R.I. and Mass locals--up on the board. Saw Blirwins complaint a while back that the 80's obscure section has been anything but that lately--so here is an attempt at getting some of that old flavor back.

From Rhode Island--The Detectives with Next Time--song from 1982.

First time with me trying ZShare so let me know if it does not work.

One more quick tune--this is the Probers from 1981--Caught You Lookin'. Also from Providence, lead singer Rick Mendes unfortunatly passed away ayear or two ago.

Thanks randy, I have two of the Mass. Avenue cassette tapes, or is it one and the other is a "punk" rock comp. from Boston, Mass.--something along those lines...

The casettes have different songs on them than any of the CDs that were issued by Rhino (was it Rhino???).

When Mark Cutler left the Schemers, he helped form the Raindogs with some local Boston guys. Here is one of their tunes from 1989--Too Many Stars--was a minor local hit.

While November Group was never a favorite of mine, there were a few of Ann Prim's tunes I did like, "We Dance" being my favorite. On a previous November Group thread, Heart Of A Champion, another decent tune was left off, so here it is. Eventually I hope to resolve the background noise issues with some of these--eventually-just need to know what is best--and affordable.[:D]

Rods And Cones were an interesting 6 man Boston band. Circles was one of my favorite tunes by these guys but unfortunatly my vinyl--which I had not listed to in eons due to a lack of a turntable--skips on that tune ( Damn--don't remember it skipping!!!!) Therefore--Here is Push-Shove from 1985.

Time on my hands today--a tune I think I posted a while back but it's always been one of my favorites--Vibe from Bop ( Harvey )--1990.
Has a different flavor from most tunes.

These guys were actually winners of one of the local rock hunts.

Last tune for the time being comes from a band I loved seeing live. The New Models are probably known more for Permanent Vacation (another all time favorite of mine ) and Say What ( Which wasn't one of my favorites). This tune is "Looking For A Reason".
