Oingo Boingo Rare Songs and Live Shows

Postby SnakeDoctor » Sun Nov 28, 2004 2:32 pm

Hi. Im looking to see if anyone has any rare Oingo Boingo songs or shows (audio or video). I have several rare songs I have come across in the last couple of years but I wanted to see if anyone is up for a trade or to compare wants/haves..........I looked through a couple of previous Boingo threads but they were over a year old so I decided to start a fresh one.

Let me know if anyone is interested. Thanks in advance.

I have nothing rare by them per se, but I did see on eBay a few months back one of their early 45's that was recorded under their full name "The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo". I forget what it was going for, but it was pricey (the two songs didn't look familiar, either).
Also, since you're into their rare stuff, SnakeDoctor, can you verify for me if the 4-track EP that had "Only a Lad" and "Isn't This the Life" (did I get the title right?) was ever released to CD? I believe I saw it long ago, but I'd like a second opinion just to make sure I wasn't seeing things. [:)]

Here's a discography I found:

http://www.rit.edu/~elnppr/oben/discog.html

It includes the Mystic Knights.... release.

The 2CD "Anthology" includes the 2 tracks you mention (only it's "Ain't This the Life"). Not sure if the other tracks, of the 4-track EP, are included.

Thanks for the replies....SkinnyTie, as far as the BOingo EP ever being released on CD, the answer is no. It exists only on wax. I have a copy and have mp3s on my computer of the songs, some of which are different versions......Someone may have copied the songs and produced a bootleg version though.

As far as the 45 you refer to, it is indeed a Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo release. I also have a copy. More recently, there was an early demo by the band on eBay that went for $1600!! Unbelievable.

Im still looking for some Boingo rarities though.....thanks

I have a ton of weird Boingo stuff as mp3's that I could burn to disc(s) for you.

I've also got some rare Devo stuff (the Recombo DNA discs by Rhino and Rykodisc Hardcore discs) and some alternative Cars discs

Got anything to trade, obscure music-wise?

I've got a number of mixes or extended versions of Pain, Not My Slave, Out of Control, etc. I've also got a few other non cd tracks (like from the Bachelor Party soundtrack). Let me know if there is anything in particular that you're looking for.

The Oingo Boingo EP has never been fully released on CD.

Here's a link to a good vinyl rip....

I am new here and this is my first post. i found this site by doing a google search for rare Oingo Boingo Tracks

These are all of the rare Oingo Boingo Tracks I have been able to find
most are in mp3 format @ 128 kbps, a few are at lower biterates

The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo
The Tape Formerly Known as Madam Wongs West

The Madam Wongs West tape has a complicated story to it.
Madam Wongs West tape is actually a compilation of several shows by the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, but traders called it "The Tape Formerly Known As Madam Wongs West" The shows were in fact, at the Palace, West Take High and Madam Wongs...

Hey Chjonnie,
Do you have "Afraid of the Dark" on an early Rhino Records compilation "L.A.IN"? The cover looks like the movie poster for
the 1979 movie "Alien". This track was also used in the movie
Forbidden Zone and part of it was reused as the theme song to
the Dilbert cartoon. I have a really bad quality mp3 of the
Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo on the Gong Show. They won!
