1983 holds so many treasures. For instance Birch And Hallam who later went on to form Stereo MCs. Their first single "What You Say" is wonderful. It's instantly recognizable and catchy. You've probably heard this song before at a club or something, but like only once, and it sticks with you.

Their second single "Pray For Me" is also really catchy, but the moody b-side is really my speed.

It seems "Pray For Me" was never released on 12" which is a pity. Wonder if there are any white label promos... I also saw some rumors of an unreleased album floating around the internet years ago. If anyone's got that, that would be awesome!

Here's the unfortunately short tracklisting. I believe this is everything they released as Birch And Hallam.

Birch And Hallam - Collection
1. What You Say
2. Over Me
3. Pray For Me
4. Far Away Dreamers
5. What You Say (Extended Version)
