[blog] -> simple minds sparkle in the rain demos

last year, i posted some of the
demos, and comparisons of them
to songs from sparkle in the rain:

‘and sparkles in the rain’

well, i’ve finally gotten a chance to listen to the
‘sparkle in the rain’ demo sessions..(thanks to all
the gracious people that made this available..you
know who you are!)

it’s very interesting, because the songs are in the very
early stages, (no vocals), and you can hear all kinds
of elements that were used later on…

there’s a lot of keyboard work in most of them, and
some guitars…the drum tracks are there also..

but i really like the keyboard intrepretations
of ‘book of brilliant things’ the best…

in a way, it’s almost like travelling back in time,
because you wouldn’t normally hear music like this now..

i can also see why simple minds wouldn’t probably
release this now though, because it’s just some
rough experimentation with their music, and its so
radically different from the final versions…

finally, here’s a few more details..
