In 1984 there was a movie called Voyage Of The Rock Aliens which starred Pia Zadora. It's a really kitchy fun 80's b-movie. It's all on Youtube, check it out here:

Any movie that opens with Real Life playing over the credits (not even Send Me An Angel!) is okay in my book. There's a really weird Jermaine Jackson video that was awkwardly shoved into the beginning of the movie, but after that it gets good. It's basically about a bunch of new wave aliens who hear 80's music from across the galaxy and come to Earth to find it. There, the alien leader falls in love with Pia Zadora. Why, I don't know, but he does. It basically becomes a showdown for Pia's love between the new wave band of aliens, and a rockabilly band who's leader is dating Pia. It's basically Devo vs. the Stray Cats and it's awesome. You should watch it. The new wave band is played by a real life human new wave band called Rhema who were signed to Curb records in 1983.

Rhema recorded an album that's never been released. It was supposed to coincide with the release of Voyage Of The Rock Aliens, but Pia Zadora and her husband were unhappy with the way the film came out and tried to have it blocked. They were able to keep it blocked until '87, by which time the premise made even less sense. Rhema had four songs in the film, all of them good. My favorite ones are

Rhema - 21st Century (1984)

Rhema - Combine Man (1984)
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/1-vWIgju__M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

They have a Thomas Dolby/Landscape vibe with shades of Re-Flex and Devo.

Here's a couple of my favorite songs on their unreleased LP:

Rhema - Big Town (1983)

Rhema - Insomniac (1983)

If you like these tracks, you'll find plenty to enjoy here.
