Hi Everyone!

I really love National Pastime. Sure they err a bit toward cheese, but the songs are there, and the production is great for 1985. They were way bigger in Japan where they released the non LP single "Pictures On Your Wall" and their album was released on CD. This album is due for a re-issue. There are TONS of bonus remixes (no b-sides sadly) but all in all, more than an hour and a half of National Pastime. This collection took me a while to complete because there are so many pieces of vinyl to collect. Their sound lies somewhere between Duran Duran and GI Orange. Check out their 'hit' which has one of the most awesomely lame videos of all time.

My favorite track from the band is 'Lunacy' and the 12" is pretty tough to come across. There's one on ebay right now for $50. Here's the ultra rare extended version.

Here's another one of their singles live on Japanese TV

Pretty sure that's everything the band put out, but if anyone knows otherwise, please speak up! I'd love there to be more. I feel like this would be a wise release for Cherry Red, just for how many copies they could import to Japan. Each track has it's own unique picture attached, because there are so many great National Pastime sleeves. Enjoy!

Some of these songs are quite catchy--THANKS DOMINIK! But they seem so awkwardly New Wave in their videos, kinda like the kind of band who'd be doing polkas if their manager said it might get them a recording contract.

Hey cool - thanks for this D500!!

Wow, that "It's all a game" video was CHEESE, but they do have some catchy tunes!

Funny, about 10 years back I discovered this group on a "Debut LP" sampler, and I liked the song so much I searched for more of their stuff. Found a site called "Total Recall Records" out of Germany who was selling a whole whack of their 12" records, so I bought them all, hoping they'd be as cool as the song I heard. I did transfer my vinyl to digital records, but sadly I sold all of my vinyl a few years back at the local record shop, most of those National Pastime LPs were sold for $1 each...my wife wanted all of the vinyl out of the house, and I didn't want the pain to lug them all back home, so I took his offer...in hindsight, that was a bad decision. :)

"It's all a game" for me was a class 80s single[the only track I know by them] which sadly stalled just outside the UK top 100 singles chart, did an extended edit of it a while back.....will check the rest of the tracks out...cheers.
