REQ: Newstreet - On the Roll EP

Postby tee » Sun Jul 03, 2016 11:51 am

Hi,
does anyone have this to share? I've been trying to buy a copy but the only one I've been able to find for sale sits with a seller who unfortunately doesn't ship outside of the US (I'm in Europe).

Thanks!

Why not ship to Europe if you are willing to the pay shipping. The guy is making a mistake. I am from the USA and I ship everywhere. I do not have the ep but the album looks cool I wish I heard it

Yeah, as far as I can recall that's the first time I've encountered something like that. Sure, shipping is very expensive but I continuously buy loads of records from the US anyway. He didn't say why he doesn't ship internationally. I'm sure he realizes that he's missing out on a lot of business by having that policy but it's his call of course.

Hi,
I was the synth player in Newstreet.
I'm pretty sure I still have some of the records around....I need to dig in the back of the garage to see if I have a box or two left.

Are you Ian by any chance? I am curious how the "Better Run" LP sounds like. It's in line with the EP or more towards 70's rock? Cheers

HI, 'Better Run" was before I was in the band. I have the album somewhere as Greg, the leader, gave me a copy when I was trying out for the group. I was the youngster in the band at 18 and was into Duran, OMD, Devo, Ultravox, Blondie, etc. Everyone else were more from the 70's rock/pop thing so I tried to push their more pop rock sound towards a more new wave sound.
We played some of the songs from that album live but once I joined, Greg and I started writing things together to be more synth heavy.

I posted the "On the Roll" EP on Soundcloud
I always hated the mix on the album but we only had enough funding to buy three studio days time to record and mix everything. Sadly, I'm sure the 24 tracks are long gone.

I can hear the "synth" influence on the EP and it's really cool. I haven't heard any other mixes so can't really judge it but Astral Love and Memories of You are the stand-out tracks. Thanks for info on the band!
