The Police at Stewart's house 1980 (bootleg)

Postby eddie » Tue Jan 17, 2017 10:25 am

The authenticity of this has long been questioned by Police fans. There are no vocals on this which some find suspicious claiming that it is a 'tribute' or 'copycat' group and not the police themselves. However, since the Police played Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire in 1980 and Stewart lived nearby and given the state of sting's voice at that concert there are a couple of reasons why it might be genuine right there. There is a much more pressing argument that few people are aware of. This tape came into circulation in 1986 just after the three amnesty shows and long before tribute acts existed. I was given it by accident. The person who sent me it immediately tried to backtrack and claim it wasn't what was written on it just as he had done with another tape from 1980. Make up your own minds
