SHARE: Almost Alone - Blue City (7") (1984)

A track I have just recently re-discovered thanks to the wonderful series of compilations from mr. 80zForever over on youtube - A Trip To Rare Hits Of The 80s.

I was instantly reminded of how much I really like this one.
Its not so much the songwriting / singing, but rather the whole production is so beautifully executed.
Its a bit cliche to say......but its soooo 1984.
I almost like the b-side even more.....so much drenched in reverb......

A Blue City
B It's So Sad

Credits

Mastered By – Porky (5)
Performer – Matthew Wilson (3), Simon P.Chandler*
Producer – Almost Alone, John Fryer
Written-By – Wilson*, Simon P.Chandler*

Notes
Recorded at Blackwing Studios.
Only 1000 copies were originally pressed in 1984.

Unlike some other 80s rarities that often go for ludicrous amounts of money on discogs, the asking price for this one could actually justify its worth IMHO.

This duo released just one more track - Dancing To Kill, available on the Distant Waves II comp. released in 2017.

Enjoy! :)

Thanks mr Oktober. This is amazing. It is a mystery to me as to why these songs stayed unreleased and hidden for so many years and why no one even mentions this artist on this site. They need to release an album and many will like them.

Just wanted to quickly mention the production side of things - regarding the 7" single - once again.
I think John Fryer does an amazing job here.

Have a look at his other production credits - Fad Gadget, Cocteau Twins, Colourbox, Xmal Deutschland, This Mortal Coil, Clan Of Xymox, The Wolfgang Press, Minimal Compact, Love & Rockets, Wire, Lush, NIN.....and thats just until the start of the 90s......absolute creme de la creme IMHO.
