Gary Numan: Ostlan's Dark Side Remixes

Postby play dead » Sun Sep 15, 2019 1:48 am

In May 2010, another user from NWOutpost shared a 4Shared site that contained gigabytes of live concerts, rarities, ancient and recent interviews, and MP3 remixes of many Gary Numan songs (mostly fan-made stuff that's never been sold from what I could tell). I downloaded an album called "Ostlan's Dark Side Remixes," and I really liked some of this stuff. From my past searches, there seems to be literally no information available about whoever Ostlan is, if it had an album cover, or what year these remixes were created or released. The song "Crazier" was originally released in 2003 and is the most recent song on this album, therefore some or all of it was created in or after the year 2003, and probably before the March of 2006 when the Jagged album was released.

I still have the original MP3s that I downloaded back on May 15, 2010 and all of them are in 128 KBPS. It's 2 hours and 11 minutes worth of material and 19 tracks. My favorite remix was "The Seed Of A Lie (Ostlan Remix)." I recently added this to the unofficial releases of Discogs so at least now it has an online presence. Does anyone know anything about this album?

Would you happen to have more info on what tracks etc were in that share? I had a look back but can't find the original post.

I was around at the time the Numan 4Shared was up. I too downloaded a bunch of rare Numan bootlegs and such from there, including the Ostlan remixes and the Void remixes as well. So far as I can recall, there was no artwork, not even fan made for either, and there was very little info on the web about any of the remixes. I think Ostlan had been some sort of DJ, so maybe made up his own remixes for playing in clubs or similar. That's about all the info I have. I uploaded a lot of rare stuff to that 4shared, and had hoped it'd return, in some form, as the owner of that site had said it would, but still no luck with that.

Yeah, they're just fan edits. It was not a proper album, just a collection of his remixes.
