REQ: The Style Council - Long Hot Summers doc. sub.

Postby xymox970 » Fri Jan 01, 2021 8:37 am

I know this is an unusual request, but here goes....

I have already found the recent Style Council - Long Hot Summers documentary on Sky Arts, but unfortunately that is a version without a subtitle
and I do desperately need the subtitle file since English is not my first language, so that would be of great help.

There was a repeat on Christmas Eve and since I have checked the listing I am positive there was an English subtitle present.
If someone has downloaded it, could you please send it to me via PM ?

Thanks a lot.

An interesting and entertaining documentary and the ending is quite moving... "Probably the best pop group of the world"
It seems that there is no intention to release an official dvd of this :(

PD: i'm search of the SRT files too. If i found them i'll let you know

Thanks for posting this. I really love The Style Council.
It, for me, was a time when the techno-pop, post-punk, and new romantic bands started to develop a more sophisticated sound.
The Punks, Mods, and the Wavos were getting older and the music was maturing with them.

It was an obvious transition after the early years of that decade. Some bands were successful like Style Council, Sade or Matt Bianco, Another bands like Working Week or Workshy released more jazz oriented stuff or only for the japanese market. Animal Nighlife or Swans Way released 1 or 2 albums but they disappeared too soon despite having very good songs.

I just love the first Working Week album along with a couple of early 12" singles like Storm Of Light / Sweet Nothing / Solo / Venceremos......wonderful stuff.
The same goes for Animal Nightlife.

Never heard of Workshy so far.....will have to check it out ASAP.

Swans Way has a very special place in my heart. The more time goes by, the more I realized how very special they were.

Yeah, I loved that whole British Jazz-Funk, Smooth Jazz era.
The band or album that got me into most of this stuff was
Spandau Ballet - Diamond. (This is still one of my favorite albums)

Some of this was late 70s and others were all throughout the 80s.

Animal Nightlife
Carmel ‎
Working Week
Shakatak
Workshy
Matt Bianco
Sunset Gun
Incognito
Imagination
Central Line
Beggar and Co
Freeez
Linx
Light of the World
Hi-Tension

Workshy were initially a trio. Crysta Jones were on Animal Nightlife as vocalist (81-82).After the second album, Workshy became a duo. Only the first album were released on Europe (through Magnet records). After that, every single Workshy album was released only for the japanese market. The first album was produced by Mark Fisher (Matt Bianco) and the fourth by Mick Talbot (TSC). All the Workshy albums are available through spotify/itunes/deezer

Just realized that there were those Rutkowski sisters from This Moral Coil in Sunset Gun.

But this probably (I` guessing without hearing it) miles away from that sound.....
