I'm so embarassed...Robbie Dupree?

Gee you must be the same age I am. Old enough to remember Robbie Dupree, Christopher Cross, Chuck Francour(under the boulevard lights), etc and all assorted "lite rock" songs drilled into our heads from the radio when we were toddlers. And now when we hear them again 25-26 years later, all physical activity stops and locks onto hearing the song. Suddenly we are 2 years old again ridiing in our dad's beat-up '71 Chevy truck, or mom's '79 Honda Accord.

Then 3 minutes pass and we are back to our normal, old adult selves. Then we gloat for the fact some other toddler right now is having Lindsay Lohan's latest single drilled into their heads, for the 25 year cycle will happen to them, only with really sucky music, and not with hairy "lite rock" artists who were killed by new wave artists.

bv
Funny, I always thought 'Steal Away' shamelessly 'stole' the keyboard and percussion riffs from the DB's 'What A Fool Believes'
No Surprise there since Micheal McDonald did backup vocals on that track. [|)] (I still like it enough though..)[;)]

How could I forget Walter Egan's "magnet and steel"? I think I passed the opportunity to buy their LP a few months ago at Cheapo.

i guess i brought back a ton of bad(?) memories with this request.

all the songs listed were the top 40 jams of my junior high career. you are right about hearing a song and being instantly transported back to a time and menory..that's one of the bonuses of vh1 classic and the xm 80's channel.

still grubbing for hot rod hearts, tho..

I think 2Nu listed the mid 70's playlist for WABC-AM in New York.

That was the station of choice in my mom's red Plymouth Scamp, and I used to kick the springs in the back of the driver's seat to the beat of the music.

Scary thing is I know and do like many of those songs listed, in a nostalgic kind of way. But not Jack Wagner (which I think was early 80s). And now I can't get that damned chorus out of my head.

If you still need a copy of "Steal Away" give me a way to contact you and I'll send it out to you. All I ask is that you cover the postage and the cost of the cd-r.
That and WNBC AM 660..[8D]
But being an FM listener during that time, I would say most of these were WBLI 106.1 and WMJX 96X (CT) heavy play trax from ~1978-82. (except where noted otherwise)[;)]
