In the spirit of all this sharing, I thought I'd drop a few of my favorites here. I'm a sucker for a big hook & a great single. Most are vinyl rips, so I apologize for any snaps, crackles or pops.[;)]

This is one of my favorites from NY's No Wave scene, Cristina - Don't Mutilate My Mink. I always liked the debutante gone bad persona.

Vibrators - Disco in Moscow. I don't know what it is about this song, but I can listen to it 20 times in a row & still want more.

Shandi - Heartbeat. Typical LA girly pop new wave, somewhere between Missing Persons & Berlin. I like the way she whines through most of the song.

Secret Service - Hey Johnny - another addictive one that I love. Love that guitar hook.

Carolyne Mas - Sadie Says. Nice big power pop song, never got played much.

Screentest - Girl's Brand New. They were a local power pop group, shoulda made it - would have been great to hear them with better production.

Rachel Sweet - Tonight. One of things I love about Rachel Sweet is that she always sounds so enthused about whatever she's singing. This is another great power pop tune with a little country edge.

Thanks Wolver. I never heard this stuff. I love the Cristina track, that guitar bit sounds very Ultravox, noh? Time to pogo to Disco in Moscow...

Now that you mention it atreidesny, it does have that early ultravox sound. I think that song is about as hard as Cristina ever got - most of her stuff is very loungey, or disco. I can take it in small doses. Maybe that's why I like "Mink" so much - it's stupid, pretty different for her, and has a great sense of humor.
