I used to tape off the radio just like all of you out there and here is Nick Rhodes(Duran Duran) and Stewart Copeland(Police) saying they listen to WLIR, I know its not music but it will be amusing to the old WLIR fans!

Thanks GlitteringPrize.
I wish someone had the "You are an Idiot" segments they used to play. Out of all of the WLIR tapes I have, not one has that on it.

FYI, the "You Are An Idiot" jingle (as well as many others used on LIR) came from a radio production library called Cheap Radio Thrills:

I would love to hear the segment on the three Mickeys
Mickey Mouse
Mickey Mantle
Mickey Way

Also if any one has the segment about the whales and their blow holes...

Please tell me someone remembers, and I'm not out of my mind[?]

From the National Lampoon records. They're all available on CD now. LIR played a lot of bits from them.

Another big source of LIR comedy bits were from the records of the comedy team Stevens & Grdnic (yes, that's how it's spelled, pronounced, "grid-nik"). Those records are a lot harder to come by (GEMM sometimes has them). However, their popular "Fast Food" bit is on the Dr. Demento: 25th Anniversary Collection CD.
