absurd 80's vids

Postby Kingofpain » Sun Oct 03, 2004 12:20 pm

name your pics, these are the videos and concepts that totally boggle the mind and make you wonder what either the band or director was thinking, and if the latter why the band didn't fire them!

Depeche Mode - Leave in silence: Color-coded Dave, Fletch, Martin and Alan on matching bouncy balls, not to mention wacking random objects on a conveyor belt?

Journey - Seperate ways/Chain Reaction: What were they thinking?

The Cure - The Walk: Arty yes, stange? also yes

I know there's more on the tip of my toungue... feel free to add/discuss

I remember lots of absurd 80s videos-Fred Schneider and the Shake Society "Monster" where everyone was hiding from his great big monster(definately an innuendo),New Order "Blue Monday" where the video stops and it cuts to a scene from a sci-fi movie where

Oops! I got my New Order songs mixed up! It has been around ten or so years since I've seen the video. It was pretty cool, I used to have it on videotape, but it got messed up over the years. I am hoping to see it on VH1 Classic.

I agree with Journey's Separate Ways video. Man, that is B.A.D.! In fact, me and my friends recently made our own video of that song in order to mock the original. Though I guess that video already does a damn good of that itself.

It was mind boggling how a band as HUGE as Journey was, that they released Seperate Ways video. Jonathan Cain playing invisible keyboards. W.T.Hell?????????

I have to say that Art of Noise "Closer To The Edit" (Cool Tune)
rates high on my list. Ok, I know, it was artsy deconstructionist metaphor but it was pretty painful seeing them desecrate a grand piano with a chainsaw and cutting wheel just the same! [x

Boomtown Rats-Up all night. Bob Geldof writhing around in bed with a boa constrictor and trying not to look scared.
