They had at least one excellent album on Columbia Records.As far as I know,the 2 songs that got some and very little airplay on radio at the time She Was Always On Time(Not Anymore) and That Is A Friend were great slices of New Wave Power Pop from 1985. I was wondering if either song were made into videos,and if they were ever shown on MTV at the time?

I keep checking on Youtube for both of these songs,occasanally from time to time,and so far neither song has ever been posted on youtube.Just wondering if any New Wave fans out there have a copy of either of these two songs,and if they do can they please post them at some point? Thank you.

There was a video released for the lead single, "Excuse Me." It was in rotation on MTV in the fall of '85. The clip was very poorly-shot and edited (plus no label support) so didn't get played much. I have it on tape somewhere.

"She Was Always on Time" was the second single. No video released.

Yes, on video, I have from Rock America Mainstream December 1985. "Excuse Me" by Shy Talk, an appropriate name for the video, since I find the video/song very unappealing. This is the only video I know of or want to know of by Shy Talk in the Rock America/Telegenics database. If you would like a copy I could upload it.

Well, I loved the song and thought it should've been a hit. But the video was shit. Let's just say "Take on Me" it wasn't. Not that I like "bright white background" performance clips in general, but it wasn't even done well. I guess their entire advance went towards hair care products.

Steve Garvey of The Buzzcocks co-wrote "Excuse Me" and "That Is a Friend," by the way. He played bass with them when they were based in Northern England (and may have made the move to NYC as well) but quit after being signed and before the album was recorded. He's thanked on the back of the jacket.
