help with a goth/synth identification

help with a goth/synth identification

Postby Europa112 » Tue Jun 10, 2003 4:07 am

hi all,

i was out the other night and the DJ played a really incredible song. I was positive it was Depeche Mode until I came home and couldn't find it. The only lyric I could make out (there weren't many) was 'misunderstood', possibly 'miss understood'. The overal sound was goth/synth. It was probably a personal mix of the DJ but finding anything close would be excellent! thanks for your help in advance.

Ya know - every time I see someone posting about a Depeche Mode sounding song recently it always turns out to be "Another World" by Beborn Beton.

Don't know if it has "misunderstood" in the lyrics - but give it a whirl.

Don't see it here?

I'm struck by the insidious, computer-driven tendency to take things out of the domain of muscular activity and put them into the domain of mental activity.

Not sure on this one, but two bands that clearly imitated Depeche Mode--often sounding too close for comfort--were Cetu Javu (key songs: "Situations", "Have in Mind") and Camouflage ("The Great Commandment", "That Smiling Face"). Might be one of them.

Might also help to ask the DJ @ the club you were at. Most club DJs post their playlists on either the club or their personal websites.

Which club were you at and in which city?

Europa112, don't be embarrassed to ask the DJ. Nobody has universal knowledge of any style of music, including DJs at trendy clubs. If it's not something that's regularly played on the radio, how are you supposed to know what it is? I bet 95 out of 100
