Slow Down!

Slow Down!

Postby rudy » Mon Oct 27, 2003 5:35 am

OK, think back... back to 1987, maybe 1988, not later than that. The
song started out with trombone/baritone sax/typical ska horn mix (although the song was not really ska), opening bars were:

nehneht, nanehneht, neh neh na NAAHnaht/

nehneht, nanehneht, neh neh na NAAHnaht/

then kicked into gear with guitars and drums, 8/4 beat. The vocals
were (roughly):

"I! can't get *something some-some-something*/I! can't get *something
some-some-something*/You, what was that promise that you made..."
The "I!" was shouted by a group of people.

Then one more line, and the chorus was a shouted "Slow Down!" (or
something that sounded like that) with the opening riff repeating in the background.

Does this ring ANY bells whatsoever? I've been looking for this tune
since, well, since I heard it on LIR back when.

Thanks...

OK, let's see... male vocal, midrange (as opposed to baritone or soprano), very upbeat tune...

Probably not much help, but "what was that promise that you made" is a pretty famous line from "Touch Me" from The Doors.
