hey, newbie here...

I'm trying to find a song from around 1985 that was played SOMETIMES on KROQ.

It's a male vocal, total synth pop (a little dark) and I'm probably butchering these, but it goes something like this:

"I didn't want to see your face
something something... of a million people
I didn't leave you in disgrace
something somethign....the tallest steeple"

The chorus is just one line, something like "king of a heartless/hopeless tribe"

If anyone can help at all, it'd be great!

Thanks!

Yay I finally get to answer one of these!!

The song is called "King" and the band is called Hohokum.

I USED to have this 12" and I foolishly sold it years ago. ARGH!

Dude, you are so totally awesome!

That's it. I never would've found that. Never even heard of them before.

Couldn't find a place to order the vinyl in the US, but I did find a NY radio station on-line that had it in their playlists. (www.wfmu.org)

For those who read jfiber's response, the correct spelling of the band is:

Hohokam

The 12" is difficult to find, good luck.
