Need help with 2 early '80s tracks [SOLVED]

Need help with 2 early '80s tracks [SOLVED]

Postby zippyphonic » Sun Jan 22, 2012 5:22 am

One of them might be '78 or '79. I think I know the titles, but I have no idea who the artists are.

From Here To Eternity:

Chains For You

They're from old college radio airchecks. I put them on youtube so you wouldn't have to download the tracks to listen.

Thanks for any help!

I checked The Only Ones via AllMusic, probably the day before I posted this, but their version of "Eternity" is not this one. I came up empty on "Chains". Do you think these are both by the same band?

Thanks for the input!

They do sound the same. Don't know who they are but absolutely not the Only Ones.

It's been 28+ years but yes I'm 99.44% sure that it's "Chains", but if you find a song called "Change For You" that sounds identical to this one I will stand corrected, as well as thank you profusely. [:D]

Also, thank you Simon for the confirmation that neither is not The Only Ones. I also have a friend who owns 2 of their early LPs who was going to confirm as well.

I finally got off my ass and started going thru those old cassettes to locate and ID these tracks. Wouldn't you know it, I even played them back-to-back. They are:

"From Here To Eternity" is a 1982 single (not sure if 12" or 45) by a NY band called China Choir.

"Chains For You" is from a 1980 LP by The Commercials called "Compare And Decide"

I suppose I was just trying to avoid all that (I zipped thru at least 15, maybe 20, before locating the cassette) to begin with!

Thanks for playing!
