I emailed the seller of this record -- here is his response:

"Hi Dan -- I gave your song a listen and your song is not the one that I have.
The style of your song sounds very mid 80's Brit Pop, and almost Bowie-ish, but a rather slowed down Bowie.
Incidentally, Bowie has a song called "Stay" but Bowie's "stay" is not at all like your song. Good luck and I hope I hope you find some hay amongst all the needles."

--

I recall we eliminated these two songs from the list:
8. Blue Nile "Stay" 1984
12. Canton "Please don´t stay" 1985

I just love this song because it's a pretty good song and it has stumped every New Wave expert worldwide. We should have known if a song can stump Paul Miceli, it would drive us all nuts. I wonder if the band who wrote this song knows that their song is so sought after. Probably not because if they did, they would release it and make some money. It definitely sounds Canadian or Australian New Wave. I know for sure it's not Canton "Please Don't Stay".

Nicely done, Panorama! If people can identify criminals and locate missing persons on youtube, then solving this song should be a cinch. [}:)][:p]

So, I decided to check out all the hype on this topic. I must say this made a very interesting read for me. What was even more interesting is the song itself. What is this? It sounds like an early AOR track from the mid 80's. I hope this will be identified one day. Good luck! I would like to just add one thing, try putting "80's" or maybe "new wave" in the title. I am only suggesting this so it will receive more hits.

Thank you
Youtube only allows 60 characters in the title, so I could put "80's" and/or "New Wave" into the title, but would have to reduce the total characters, by removing others, like "unidentified Mystery song"

Current title:
Stay (The Second Time Around) - unidentified Mystery song (= 57 characters)
Any suggestions what I should name of the youtube title for this song? -- If I take out "Mystery"
Stay (The Second Time Around) - unidentified New Wave 80's song (= 63 characters is too long)

I have 80's and New Wave in the Tags though.

I'd change it to:

Stay (The Second Time Around) - mystery New Wave 80's song. Merely substituting mystery for unidentified saves 5 letters and brings it in under the 60 letter limit.

I'd put unknown song instead of mystery song. There are actually songs titled Mystery Song. If you do a search for unknown song it shows a lot of links with other people doing the same thing.

I think you should add the German radio stations to the tags.
