I just emailed the person with the ebay auction and asked them to lisen to the clip http://spiritofradio.ca/SongSearchH/220.mp3 and their 45 of ***MIKE CANNON-STAY*** and compare the two -- the auction only has 20 hours left and 0 bids.

I know Mike Cannon's music, and unfortunately, for our sake, it is not him.

It's probably not Mike Cannon, unless Frayo never told us.

Just did an Advanced Search on gemm.com. I put "ZYX" as label (cos that's one hint we got) and "Stay" as title and i got one result: "George and Partner - Stay", Italo Disco from 1983, german label: ZYX. Could this be it ?

That is very possible, but it doesn't sound like a song from 1983

I guess you never know huh?

Posted a request over at http://capishe.topcities.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=1 to see if anyone has George & Partner.

Has anyone posted the sample over there to see if someone there knows it?

This is probably another lost cause suggestion but,
does anybody here remember the radio show from the early to mid 80's called Rock Over London? The show host was Graham Dean or something like that. I'm wondering if it would be possible to contact him to see if he might know our mysterious artist. Just a thought....

This is probably way off base but... there's an New Zealand/Aussie performer named Richard Wilde (real name Richard Wilkins) who was a pop star in the late 70s. He released, of course, a 7" titled "Second Time Around". He's a television personality now. Don't know anything about his later band (Wilde and Reckless) or this song...

As good a thought as any, right?

Yeah this is like a top unsolved murder case...wish we could figure this one out. I like to consider myself a music expert lol, especially considering how I've spent most of my life buying records/etc., but it still amazes me that there are gems out there still undiscovered that were released at 200 copies or so in different parts of the world. If this is the case with this release it's going to be tough, but if we persevere something's gotta give!!

When I first heard it I thought of Jon Astley too, stylewise but knew almost immediately it wasn't him, but just wanted to share I agree with the similarities it crossed my mind too.

I think this has been going on for 3 or 4 years now...it's just less painful if you don't think about it.

How funny. That's why I never listened to the clip because the chances of me knowing it are next to zero and I didn't want that haunting me forever. I gave in and downloaded it today!
