Stay (The Second Time Around) [Solved]

Postby synthman78 » Tue Sep 14, 2010 1:45 am

I checked out the Frode Wassvik tune.... not the one.....

To me it almost sounds like Piotr from Machine Age on vocals, but obviously its not him, as its not the right era.
And sometimes I wonder how the artist who did this song can still be unaware that so many people are searching for this tune.
Ah well, the quest continues.

Hi

I can't offer anything new sadly other than to bump this topic and add my theory.

I think this was recorded, the production sounds a lot better than demo quality. I also think this was only released on vinyl and possibly in limited quantities. I am thinking about a few other songs that took ages to solve, namely "the wedding song" by good shepherds and "the wishing tree" by charlie's brother. Both records were on a small record label and had obviously a limited distribution.

I think people just have to keep checking recordstrack etc until something new appears.

"Hello! A friend of mine knows this song! He toured Germany in the fall of 1986 and this was on the radio! I realize you have been searching for it for a long time so I thought I would come here to share what he says. He doesn't think it is by Modern Vision as many think. He thinks the band was called something like 'Kero's Final Stand' or 'Last Stand' or something similar (although I cannot find ANYTHING about a band with that name online, nor was there an official release.) find a full version!"

Nice trace!

Unfortunately he did not tell if he was sure whether it's a German band or not.
If NOT ... well, what about these guys here:

http://www.discogs.com/artist/Last+Stand+%282%29

(there might be more than that one single shown there, mind you)

I was hoping this would have been solved by now. [:D] I wonder if this band knows that so many people are trying to figure out who does this song. That little snippet still sounds really cool after all these years. I was hoping some band would try to cover it and maybe then the band will finally come out from their shell.

It's certainly New Wave Outpost's version of a loooooong viral phenomenon! I'm surprised the artist or band member hasn't happened upon this from a stray Google search at this point.

I can be 99.9% sure this ISN'T a song by Camouflage. The voice is very distinct from lead singer Marcus Meyne's and I am pretty familiar with their early works. I don't even think the singer is German. He sounds English to me. His baritone reminds me a lot of Brian Atherton of Box Of Toys (although it's not). It's a shame this still goes unanswered after all this time. It sounds like a great song.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that somewhere in the world there's a person who knows this song and who the artist is. It's a great song and I swear it sounds so familiar. Like something straight out of a movie from the mid 80's.

Wow, this thread is epic. I tried some searches as well and came up snake eyes. At first I though the voice reminded me of some old stuff from The Damned, but I couldn't find anything to match.

Well yeah there someone in the world that knows what it is .. the people that recorded it but until they become members of NWO they ain't likely to tell us.

The Damned?? I don't think so.

I was recently listening to The Church - Unguarded Moment, and the vocals sounded eerily similar to this song...I know it's probably not the case, but could this song be a lost gem from one of The Church's early recordings? Just throwing that out there.

EDIT: On second listen to the Youtube, nevermind. :)

A freind of mine had a great idea if we had the whole track: Publish it on an 80s comp. Once the copyright holder serves you with the court papers, you'll know who did the track!!!!!!!!
