<br>Theres a song by a band called Tor from 1986 called Stay. I ordered the 45 cuz it was cheap. It looks like theres a guy named Tor who released rockabilly albums in the 90s but I dont think its the same person/band!

Its not the song. I just got the record in the mail. As is usually the case its pretty bad. Next..

Last night I was surfing the internet, and I found a possibility.

Has anyone tried: Jeb Million - Second Time Around (1986)

I saw it as I was looking at the history of singles produced by stock, aitken & waterman. The song we're trying to figure out here doesn't exactly sound like something they'd produce. But I don't know.

Here's an article on the artist:

I tried, but they failed: No one at the NDR as well as the HR has the slightest idea who sings this song..even the people who must have played it once didn't remember. If I find out something new, I'll let you know.

Not our song, but here it is in case anyone needs a good laugh. It's so horrible you just have to hear it.

I am impressed with the lasting power of this song...a long time ago I remember reading somewhere that this song was by a Canadian artist, although the person couln't recall the group name. (I think it was on the CFNY Unknown Songs board) I don't recognize it as such, nor do any of the other people I've spoken to in regard to this.

I really would have liked to get that lp by Jet...just to know one way or the other. My personal opinion is that the group is from the U.K. or Europe.

We can rule out Jet, too:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... L:RTQ:US:1
It's listed as "Country". I messaged the seller to make sure, and this was his reply:

im not sure m8 iam selling it for some one else the record is in perfect cond the songs are, get around, everything i own, dreadlock holiday, little in love, i wrote the songs, orange blossom, couldve been a lady, silence is golden, this old house, when you ask about love woman, exodus thanks for looking but thats all i can tell you

No titular track or song called "Stay". Methinks it's some sort of reggae/dancehall record by the song titles. It may have been a good thing you couldn't get this album, eight6!
So the search continues by process of elimination.

Just a stupid question: are you 100% sure the song's title is "Stay" or "Second time around"? Maybe it has nothing to do with "stay" at all. It's so strange nobody has identified it after 2 years... it really intrigues me.

Eight6, I also think it sounds quite European (UK included), and the singer's voice is so familiar to me...
