<br>We can also definitely rule out Skope and The Tiny. I dl'ed both from soulseek and neither of them was the right song.
I had them in my d/l list...I guess I can cut them.

Unless you need a couple of songs that REALLY suck.[:D]

We can also eliminate Tiger Lou. [:(]

Found a scan of that Dagaband 7" and it really doesn't look like the band.

I'm pretty sure somebody else went down this road...they are a NWOBHM band if memory serves.

Found something else, it's The Dream Team's "Second Time Around". It's from 1986 or 1987. But I think it's an early hip hop group.

(( sorry if the links don't come up. I don't know how to do that.)))

Links came up fine...we can cross this off, it's originally from 84' and is a remix of the Shalimar track from some little label in Cleveland...

EDIT:

Here is a list of what was suggested (either on NWO, Rene's or Spirit of Radio) and ruled out as well as some of the suggestions that, while not very likely, were not totally eliminated. There are a lot of other songs called Stay and Second Time Around, but some are obviously not the same song (Shalamar).
Im pretty sure, anything on allmusic.com cam be ruled out, unless they add it after tonight but I could be wrong as I started to go blind after awhile. Ive searched through that site 3 different times though.

Stay Second Time Around

Ruled Out

Modern Vision
Romance at Eleven
Aldo Nova
The Blue Nile
Grace Pool
Lions and Ghosts
Stone Fury
Andre Cymone
Cham CM
Ghost
The Controllers
Canton
The Tiny
Skope
Tonio K
Tiger Lou
The Dream Team

Not Ruled out (Yet)

Jet (eighties band, not the current hipsters)
Cheating Ace (1985)
Dagaband

Above is an updated list. I forgot the Tonio K song at first but Im pretty sure I eliminated that one awhile ago. I can't remember where I saw the Cheating Ace song. I just emailed a member of the band whose website claims to have former members of Cheating Ace with the link. Hopefully he'll answer me. The only other thing I found about Cheating Ace was a website claiming they were a band during the 80s at some guy's high school and that they all wore pastel pink shorts because they dug Miami Vice. [:D]

Dagaband is most likely out as well.

I was just thinking how interesting it is that this band recorded this song and has no idea that all these people are going crazy trying to identify it. Im wondering if we cant find the lyrics because they are not online (obviously) or any mention of it because the song isnt called Stay OR Second Time Around! Just a thought!

That's a thought -- it might be called "listen to my heart go, don't go"
though I doubt it as well and still believe it's called "Stay (The Second Time Around)" which seems so obvious.

If someone does figure it out...maybe the band that recorded it might get a small royalties check...because several dozen NWO members will probably go out and buy it.

If that's the case we should all get $1 from that check...although, I've been watching this for 8 months, it's been one of my favorite threads. I never posted to it till last week when i thought I might have figured it out...um...NO... So eight6 and tha_farfetch and MikeP and Dan and, hell...a whole bunch of people who have vanished deserve a cut more than me...I'll take a shiny new dime and a copy off the hub...my current hopes lie with the hipster quipster from Toronto...

While riding home in my car, I heard this song on the radio that I was sure was called "Haunting You." It seemed so obvious, because it was repeated in the chorus four times. I go home and look up the lyrics on the net to find out who does it. It turns out it's not called "Haunting You." It's called "Bug Eyes"... two words which not only don't appear anywhere in the lyrics, I can't even figure out how they have any relation TO the lyrics.

But then that's terrible bands like Dredg (or as I call them, Sludg) for you. Musical artists with actual talent tend to title their songs after the lyrical hook. Or at least are legendary enough like Nirvana and Bob Dylan to get away with it.

But back to this song -- we're working on it. I'm going to find out what it is or die trying.

My Belgian friend doesn't recognize the song clip; he doubts it is a Belgian band[:(!]

OK, I ordered the Jet lp titled Second Time Around from the vendor who had it on GEMM. Based on his rating, I may not ever see the lp, but if it does come, we can cross it off the list, or rejoice.

anything yet?

Nothing yet Wauk. Purchases like this I normally chalk up in the "donations" column. If a record comes back, I'm both surprised and impressed. I did receive an e-mail acknowledging my purchase with all the vendor's mailing routines. Item sent within 3-5 days of this notice...I send by air mail so I am not responsible for delays yadda, yadda, yadda: you get the picture.

Normal airmail times from the U.K. are from 7 to 21 days based on past purchases & vendors.

I will post as soon as it arrives...if it arrives.

Is it possible that this song is by either The Spoons or Gordon Deppe, who was their lead singer. They're a Canadian band from the eighties. I just happened to be listening to The Spoons today and it dawned on me that they could be it. I too have been looking endlessly for this song. I hope someone figures it out soon.

Well, I got an e-mail from Guitar Center Records today...Second Time Around is not available from this vendor. I know the record was still listed as available as late as last week (just seeing if he updates his listings) but today when I looked, it's no longer there.

The search continues...
