Icehouse-Big Fun remixes

Icehouse-Big Fun remixes

Postby morgan1098 » Fri Aug 12, 2016 12:37 pm

Icehouse's 1990 Code Blue album was not well-received, but I have a question anyway.

On the 2013 remix compilations we have "Big Fun (12" The Riddler Mix)" on Vol. 1 and "Big Fun (The Mad Hatter Mix)" on Vol. 2. Both tracks run 6:22 and, to my ears, are exactly the same.

I thought maybe this was just an issue of the same mix having a different name on different releases, except the original "Miss Divine" CD single from 1990 has both tracks together, back to back, ON THE SAME CD! https://www.discogs.com/Icehouse-Miss-D ... se/3934168

What's the deal here? The song has a lot of samples and spoken-word bits, and the only thing I can figure is that the Riddler and Mad Hatter mixes might use different spoken-word snippets. But really, it sounds the same. I have listened to both mixes back-to-back (this is taxing as it isn't a great mix and the repeated voices are headache-inducing!) and can't hear any difference. Does anyone know what the supposed difference is between these two remixes? :/
