You should have been on the Spirit of Radio site when this was an unknown song: what a search! We "experts" had it labelled as european, it turns out the guys in Story Structure live right around the corner from me (in Toronto).

Nice find, I don't know if you know it but there are only about 200 copies of this vinyl floating around (according to Mike Ella). Took me forever to get a copy. I also have some unreleased stuff by Story Structure sent to me by Mike Ella of the group. I'll make you a copy if you're interested.

Wow, Story Structure!


I heard they were produced by the same guy who was in Tapps, don't know how accurate that is, but anyhow, I'm still looking for this 12 inch, but it is almost impossible to find. At least now I know why, 200 copies is barely enough for a handful of dj's. How a canadian pressing ended up in Spain is beyond me. Thanks again for high quality rip Mario, I think you're without a doubt the biggest collector in new wave/indie music I've ever met.

Pretty sure of the 200 number (I don't have the e-mail anymore to check) You're right about the producer, and if I remember correctly they had a falling out with him over "musical differences". That, combined with the fact they were planning on going to university (they were still in highschool when I Told You was recorded) meant the music got put on hold.

If you look hard djsanti, you can find a copy, in fact I have found at least 3 since acquiring mine. Strangely, one was from a vendor in Japan of all places. I saw one on eBay last year as well.

No problem MSK: e-mail an address to me and I'll throw a CD in the mail to you. BTW, there are at least 2 songs on the unreleased CD that are IMO better than I Told You.
