Classix Nouveaux and Sal Solo

Classix Nouveaux and Sal Solo

I was just surprised by an unexpected package in the mail of the new Cherry Red Classix Nouveaux and Sal Solo reissues. They look great. Nice artwork and sleevenotes. I will not comment on the mastering, though I wish they would have contacted me with regards to "Secret". Still, it's nice to see them re-released.

I honestly had never heard of this band until reading about it here. I am a new romantic fan and am interested in buying these reissues. Are they worth it, in your opinion? I am a stickler for remastering quality (there are so many half-assed jobs these days). Can you not comment on the remastering or just won't? Why do you wish they would have contacted you regarding "Secret"?

I'm taking that to mean another remastering from vinyl. Pass.

Did they use the liner notes I provided? Sal said he thought that they might be too long and that they'd probably have one of their in-house guys do it...

The liner notes for "Secret" were provided by Sal, the liner notes for "Heart and Soul" were provided by Paul Salmon (Ipswitch, Suffolk).

Are they going to send you a complimentary copy? They usually send me a batch of 5 or 6 copies for the remasters I've done, though that may have been only when I provided them at no charge.

Since I did not deal directly with them (and everything went through Sal), then I'm hoping that he may get one and send it my way. He's a very busy guy touring churches all around the country (and sometimes other countries) so he may not be home to mail them for awhile. I'll e-mail him and see if he's sending one.

Otherwise, I'll have to buy it. I don't know anyone over at Cherry Red...yet!

THanks for the info. Neither Sal or I thought that my liner notes would be used. As I said, he liked them but figured that it was too long.

Any chance of you posting your liner notes for us interested parties?

I'll have to find them (if I've got them at all). I'm sure I saved them somewhere in my documents just in case they needed another copy (or something) but not too sure.

Sal's a great guy by the way!
