The Clash Live at Shea Stadium

The Clash Live at Shea Stadium

I picked up the deluxe edition of The Clash "Live At Shea Stadium" and was impressed with the sound quality and the tightness of the show. I saw them the following week (Oct. 20, 1982) and was a bit disappointed that they were given the opening act sound treatment as the opener for The Who (ok, it could have been that I was a long way from the stage in the echo chamber that was the Seattle Kingdome).

Regardless, this is a well recorded, tight set. As an added bonus, I am happy to report that Terry Chimes does a pretty good job stepping back on the drum stool after Topper Headon was sacked prior to the tour. He doesn't have Topper's swing and groove, but he drives the band along nicely in a very focused set. Recommended! (BTW, the deluxe edition features a bunch more photos from the show.)

I also bought this last night (Virgin Megastore, Times Square).

The deluxe edition has more photos? That's it?

I paid $10 for the non-deluxe edition.
