<br>I have just finished listening to the new For Against album, Never Been, for the second time and I have to say it is fantastic and a magnificent work of art, which is what you would expect from For Against.
The sound is a cross between their classic post-punk and their nineties melodic works making for a very enjoyable listening experience.
The nine tracks includes two instrumentals. This is a band you can listen to over and over again in still be amazed at the intricate soundscapes produced by their music.
And yes, I agree, this is a band who should be in the same breath as the Chameleons, the Sound, Joy Division etc. if only their homebase was in a major capital city. Much like Sad Lovers and Giants, whose locale ultimately kept them off the radar both on radio and in the music press.
Pick up Never Been, the new album, and explore the back catalogue...you will not be disappointed!
Cheers!

Great review! Thanks for posting. For Against are one of my all-time favorite bands. I placed my pre-order immediately upon receipt of the email from Words-On-Music. I've been listening a lot in my car on maximum volume. A real gem indeed. I have never seen them live since they don't really have the draw to warrant a proper tour, so they basically play odd little pockets in Europe and in their home state of Nebraska. They have not been to NYC since the early/mid 90's. I've actually been emailing Harry about having them do some shows with the band I manage, The Lost Patrol in the new year.
My friend Brett and I interviewed Harry Dingman for [sic] Magazine. Read here:
