Upcoming John Foxx releases

Postby Rubellan » Mon Sep 08, 2008 10:25 pm

From what I read on the Foxx message board, the extended version of Endlessly is a previously unreleased extended version, and not the 12" version. It is being said that all of the 12" mixes will appear on a future compilation. And there was no 12" mix for Your Dress. It was just the LP version on the 12" single.

I'm reviewing the Foxx reissues (principally the 'greatest hits' selection'). But I've managed to get an editor to agree to a format in which a long-standing fan offers their observations alongside my own - any Foxx fans interested in partaking of this idea please pm me and I'll tell you more.

I've ordered The Golden Section and In Mysterious Ways. The bonus material on The Garden for some reason sounds like it's all filler to me (four parts of Swimmer and 'early versions' don't sound appealing to me) so I've passed on that one for now. But the Golden Section and In Mysterious Ways are my favorite albums by him, so I'm hoping there are some good treasures in the bonus material.

CD 2 of The Golden Section has a pressing fault on the last track. It does not affect all the pressed CD's, but Edsel are aware of the issue and will soon be offering replacement discs.

fyi : "swimmer I & II" are the two already known versions of it - one with vocals & the other one an instrumental , but "swimmer III & IV" are actually the two very rare trax that were originally called "the quiet man III & IV" , but were renamed for this new edition , so it's good value for the money , imho ! i love all the new double-cds & i'm happy to finally have all those good ol' 80s gems on cd by now in good quality too ! [8D]
in other words : i can only recommend them ALL ! [:)]
