Anyone else get these yet? I didn't get Nocturne but I got the other 3 and they sound pretty good to me. I'm interested in knowing what the audiophiles and Siouxsie experts here think of these, since the first batch was kind of lousy.

I had forgotten how good A Kiss In The Dreamhouse is!

So, these are now out in the states as well? Ill have to pick them up. I hve the other re-masters, are they worth keeping, or is the sound quality on them that bad?

No, I got them from Amazon UK, but they are coming out in the US next month. Universal's catalog division is putting them out via "UMe Imports."

I have the remasters and have been very disappointed. I won't go into detail because I've already been torched on the Banshees message boards.

Yeah, I've only listened to these on my iPod, so I can't be a solid source as if these are actually good. I'm sure I'll regret selling off my original discs, but space is an issue for me right now with a baby due in just a few weeks!

It is frustrating how so many reissues get botched in general. I'm still waiting for corrected versions of the New Order titles to come out - at least I didn't buy the original batch!

I used to be of the mindset of "At least they're coming out," but not any longer...

Please share your observations. You may find us less fanatical here. Some people do care about the quality of remasters, more than the quantity.

Here you go. And as an fyi, I approached my original post in the abrasive manner that I did because I've learned that (on that board), it doesn't matter how cautiously one expresses a dissatisfaction, anything negative is cause for lynching in Banshee land, so why bother with discretion... Of course, responses to the same posting of this thread on Severin's message board yielded much more fanatical venom from that lot.

And as a follow up, which I did not include in this thread, after side by side comparisons, I decided to keep my original Geffen Tinderbox CD as well.

The analysis on those boards is very good - since you have the technology and the expertise, I think you made an excellent argument. I knew I could be wrong in thinking they sound good because I've only listened to them on my iPod so far; the "brickwalling" so prevalent these days seems geared towards our iPod/MP3 lifestyles. The general public cares more about convenience than sound quality, which is a shame (and is one of the reasons why SACD and DVD-Audio never took off). I got the recent 24K gold disc of Heartbeat City by The Cars and there is an explicit note on the front of the package stating that the disc has not been brickwalled in any way. It's pretty funny, but very cool.

Keep fighting the good fight, Rubellan. I'm selling off my Classix Nouveaux Secrets CD because it sounds like a crappy needledrop. I just got the Cherry Red Belouis Some reissue - I'm scared that it's a needledrop as well; I haven't listened to it. I only bought it because I never owned the LP, and I collect CDs from 1985. Even though I feel 1983 was the best year for music, I have an odd sentimentality with 1985, and the music from that year is very important to me.

Another horrible, horrible remaster is Body And Soul by Joe Jackson. Truly shameful.

I must be tone deaf as I've enjoyed all the Siouxsie reissues thus far and hope they finish off the catalog as well as The Creatures 'Boomerang'. Guess I should be thankful my ears aren't as good as other people's. Middle age setting in perhaps? My biggest complaints about reissues in general is when they inexplicably dump tracks from either the original U.K. and/or U.S. issue (Furs, Specials & The The all come to mind), don't do an artists entire catalog (Furs, OMD, Cure, R.E.M., U2, Sisters Of Mercy, Ramones) if it was one just one label to begin with or don't add any bonus tracks when there is more than enough space to do so (don't know where to begin with on this point). Hope XTC continues the precedent they've set with the new Dukes reissues - quite nice I thought. Love the Ultravox's and am looking forward to 'Lament' and 'U-Vox' (think I'm flying solo on that one - I thought it was a nice change of pace, though certainly not needed). Would love to see Beggars Banquet do justice to Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Rhino do The Smiths catalog and 4AD revamp Lush's output. Am amazed no one's overhauled Xmal Deutschland's albums yet (ever?)

Wow these debates are absurdly boring. I've kept my old CDs (always do) and have enjoyed the new ones as well. I never listen to music on headphones, which may be why I don't spend my music listening time angrily trying to spot mastering flaws. Sad.

Will the Japanese SHM-CD versions have improved mastering/sound or will they be taken directly from these?

Barmy, it's just ignorant posts like yours that detract from the alternate viewpoint. As you see, some wanted my thoughts even though I had intentionally neglected to post them here to avoid your usual jackass-ness. Step back and allow freedom of speech, for a change.

Pinky, yes you can expect the Japanese CD's to be a repress of these, just with different "materials" used in manufacturing.

Thanks again, Scott. I can always count on you to be on top of these things. Another chunk of change just saved. [:)] Luckily, I'm no expert and can't hear the imperfections but just knowing that the mastering is subpar does bother me. I know EVERY point you made is valid considering your superb mastering and restoration talent. People should learn to skip your posts if they can't handle the truth.

I rely on my ears rather than scary coloured charts. I have no doubt that they could be better. But they are dirt cheap (if you buy from the UK), unlike the New Order disasters, and have, generally speaking, some interesting and relevant bonus tracks. So they seem like a no brainer to me.

This style of remastering seems unlikely to go away, so it's best to just deal with it. It seems like a waste of time to complain about something that isn't going to change.
