Retro:Active4 - Rare and Remixed

Postby rewind » Fri Jul 15, 2005 2:23 am

Is "Living On The Ceiling" a different 12" mix than was on "The Sound Of A Crowd" compilation from 2002 (which clocks in at 5 minutes and change)? I know there were several different lengths on various US promo versions.

Good question. I dont have that compilation so can't say for sure. All I know is that this mix was transferred from a 2" master tape (for the first time I am told) from the WEA vaults. Clocks in at about 5:36.

Yup, I think so. The rough plan is to keep doing them until Toni Basil 'Mickey' makes the shortlist of possible tracks, then I will know it over.

Hi Alex,

In what country do the Retro:active cds sell the best [?]
I noticed that vol 4 was listed on Amazon Germany weeks before anywhere else.

Lois, a French cd would be awesome but I don't think it would sell. I think it's hard enough to sell these even though some of the greatest songs ever are on there. It's just that there's not enough of a market for these rarities. The Elsa extended version would be amazing though.

Alex has been knocking stuff off my want list with every release. It's amazing how Alex can get some of these. Keep going Alex!

Here is my wish list for some of the future volumes:

The Picture (12" version from the It's Me Cathy b-side) - Hubert Kah (man, this has to be on cd sooner or later)

Jerusalem (12" Version) - Alphaville

Spring In Fialta or Vanessa Vacillating (12" Versions) - Slow Children

So Tired (12" Version) - Haircut 100

China (12" Version) - Red Rockers

See Those Eyes (US Extended Album Version) - Altered Images

The Calling (Swedish 12" Version) - Ken Heaven

Telephone (12" Version) - Style

King (12" Version) - Ho Hokam

Don't Leave Me (12" Version) - Cetu Javu

Imagination (12" Version) - Xymox

The Lebanon (12" Version) - The Human League

Like A Ghost (12" Version) - Ignatius Jones

Gimme The Love (Original 12" Version) - Kinky Go

Love Me (12" Version) - Punch

Anyplace Anywhere Anytime (Full Album Version) - Nena

Tesla Girls (12" Remix) - OMD

Dr. Sex (12" Version) - Pleasure & The Beast

The Ghost In You (12" Version) - Psychedelic Furs

Touch (12" Version) - Secession

I'm sure Alex is already working on some of these. [;)]

Hi Darkwave,
Based on online orders I would say the most would be to the US, Canada & UK, then Germany & Japan. Other countries make up the rest but with no one country really more than another.

Merci Lois.

Thanks for the kind words about Retro:Active. Yup, the Nik Kershaw was a mix originally as a B-side of one of the Human Racing 12"'s. Some people call it the Twilight Zone Mix because of the sample, but we used the official mix name. Very cool mix.
Thanks for the song suggestions, I will add those to the list. Been trying to get some U2 on these cds since the first one so fingers crossed.
Intersting idea with the French tracks though I think Sean was correct in saying that it would be of a more select fanbase. Though you never know.
Thanks again.
