Into The Gap was not jacked up. Heres To Future Days was.

Oops, yeah, sorry. Messed up.

I was thinking about Into the Gap because I just wrote to Edsel (for the third time), requesting a replacement for the messed up mastering of disc two. Supposedly, they fixed the glitches. Did anyone get a fixed version?

I agree, the levels are fine...there's just no bottom end. I re-listened to a vinyl rip and I must say, it's much better.

This remaster is crap, crap I say.

Still the same, I do appreciate the release and will have to doctor mine just a bit.

Max - Pardon my ignorance but what do you mean by no bottom end? You mean there's not a lot of bass? I'm listening to Mange Tout right now and indeed there doesn't seem like a lot of bass, but I recall it not being a very bass-heavy album to begin with. Haven't compared the sound with my original yet, perhaps after reading the comments here my iPod mix of this album will be the original CD for the album itself and the bonus tracks from the remaster (much like I do with "Into The Gap", where the previous release sounded so much better than the current one).

"The Day Before You Came" is definitely shorter (and I think faster) on the remaster. I've now got three versions of this album, all with different versions of the song: The LP I have had the 8:00 version (presumably the same mix as on the bonus disc).

Man, I love this site but sometimes I feel like I should avoid the comments from the audiophiles - you guys point out things I'd never notice myself and I find myself hating the discs because of it!!! Still, keep up the good work and maybe if the record companies realize people notice these things, they'll be more "Rubellan" about their remasterings [:D]

Just that...no bass. All mid and high. My vinyl rip sounds fine (can't remember where I found it) plenty of low end. I thought something was wrong as soon as I started listening to it so, I added some to low end to it and now I'm happy.

OK, so forgive my ignorance here, but the liner notes say that "Mange Tout" is a pun. Can someone please explain it to me? I never thought much about the title until reading the notes...

I think aside from the obvious French reference, as in "Everybody eat!" it refers to the fact that's it's Blancmange's second album, as in "'mange 2."

Thank you. I don't speak French, so it makes sense now...

I know this sounds petty but it drives me absolutely nuts!!!
Am I the only one who has purchased the Blancmange and Thompson Twins remastered editions on Edsel and find a problem with the double disc CD's regarding the toothed nubbin in the middle of the jewel case.
IT is so!!!!! difficult to allow the disc to be removed.
2 of my jewel cases became cracked in the back just trying to remove disc one. I got very careful with the last 2 and salvaged the discs by putting the disc loosely into the nubbin.
It is very difficult to replace those double CD covers because they have a special arm connector.
Well anyhow maybe it is just me...Just venting. Thought i would share.

Yep, it's pretty tight. But those EU gatefold double cases are my favourite. What they should have done was stick to the original translucent trays, which was a more pliable plastic.

Hi,
Mange Tout means 'eat everything'.

Yes, you have to consider all of the above to get the rather clever dual puns:

Blancmange is the name of a dessert.

'Mange tout' means 'eat everything'.

"Mange tout", said aloud, can also be " 'Mange Two " - and this is the second LP from Blancmange.
