Duran Duran - Seven and the ragged tiger 2CD + DVD

Postby obs » Sat Mar 06, 2010 5:27 pm

Sure, because we all live in the USA [;)].

The US release is the import version, by the way. Duran Duran are Brits [8D].

edit// What was the US 2CD release of Rio like? Same as the EU pressing?

i haven't got the us pressing of rio but i am assuming it is the same as the eu version, both versions of the us released tracks and the uk ones are included on the discs so there would be no need to make completely different pressings.

Yes, I understand that. And the product will most likely be manufactured in Europe and shipped over for the US arm of EMI to distribute. But at least we Americans won't have to pay import prices now! [:D]

Hmm, something doesn't seem right about that. When you look at "Label" in the product description, it says "Phantasm Imports." One would think it would say "EMI" or "Capitol" if it were a US release. I did a spot check on some other EMI releases coming out that day, like a best of Doves 2CD/1DVD set, and those are listed on Amazon, with a price of $22.99. Maybe Amazon hasn't loaded the US D2 reissues yet? In any case, here's hoping we can all find these reissues in our respective countries at prices that are fair to us!

They did that for Rio? That's what I was really asking about in my previous post.

They've been doing that in Canada for a lot of EMI releases. Sometimes it's cool to have variations, such as Arcadia, where the US has the original cover, but it's one less thing to buy, for a collector.

Gosh, I can't remember about Rio. But if it had a little white sticker on the back that said "Made In Holland," then yes, that is the case. It makes sense - these reissues generally don't sell in large numbers, so it's better to have one plant have all of the materials on hand instead of sending copies to all territories.

And looking at the solicitation sheet for the Arcadia, the artwork looks like the UK CD, which I don't like. Oh well.

Again - like in the case of the missing mixes of the Deluxe versions of Notorious and Arcadia - there is a release of the DD fanclub which includes the BBC In Concert from Dec 17, 1981 at the Hammersmith Odeon - with nice artwork and quality is really good. For all those who prefer real cds to downloads [:)]

Fully agree to the comment regarding the missing megamix of the Union of The Snake flexi - really a missed opportunity. [:(]

Finally! Amazon has listed the US releases. But, no discounts yet. Looks to be full list price at this point, although they've been know to change prices closer to a release date:

http://www.amazon.com/Seven-Ragged-Tige ... 176&sr=1-3

http://www.amazon.com/Duran-CD-Deluxe-N ... 324&sr=1-1

I like the second image that shows the inserts for the Deluxe Edition.

They still only have the import listed for the Arcadia, but that's expected as EMI solicited it 2 weeks after soliciting the 2 Duran titles.

Not that I have to buy them from Amazon, mind you; I just have some gift certificate money to use up. But if anyone here sees other sites with better prices, please let all of us know!

I'm in no hurry to buy the Duran albums. I'm sure there's gonna be another delay in the US in April. Really looking forward to the Arcadia release though.

Damn, the packaging looks good. Hmm, wasn't planning on getting Seven right away, but now, maybe I have to [:)].

Too bad those snotballs didn't do a similar type of packaging for Rio 2CD. Or maybe they will, as a three-album boxset [}:)].

PS. Hmm, for the first album, I wouldn't mind if they made disc two a replica of the Nite Romantics (JP release) cover.
