Duran Duran - Seven and the ragged tiger 2CD + DVD

Packaging looks more than fantastic with those cool inserts. Very stylish.

Although I was very satisfied about the Rio Deluxe edition at the time when it came out, now I wish that they would re-release it in that style - again.

Yeah, I would most likely grab Rio again if they packaged it like this. The extra CD from the Hammersmith DVD set is next to useless, anyways.

For the first album and Seven, supposedly, there will be 2CD versions. I wonder if they will be packaged like the Rio 2CD book.

Amazon dropped the price on the Duran sets to $27.99, and now has the US EMI version of the Arcadia for $23.99.

Also, the Duran site notes that Big Thing and Notorious are bumped to July 6.

I agree! I love the Rio 'Nagel' cover & it would be awesome to repackage it!
Maybe I'll eventually own Rio 25 ways[:0]

<br>Damn, the packaging looks good. Hmm, wasn't planning on getting Seven right away, but now, maybe I have to [:)].

Too bad those snotballs didn't do a similar type of packaging for Rio 2CD.

Duran's site is now stating that EMI US bumped the 2 Duran reissues to May 18, but Arcadia is still on track for April 20.

No, not in the least. As an ex-industry person myself, I found that a good 40% or more of all releases were delayed. With new albums, it tended to be because they were trying to build more of a "story" at radio. With reissues, sometimes it was because of marketing efforts. Perhaps in this case, since the sets are so intricate, they didn't anticipate the number of preorders they received and need more time to manufacture. Or, maybe they're just being wishy-washy! Hell, the Arcadia was originally due in February. And I know people at EMI who were talking about that being reissued a few years back when the Power Station CD/DVD came out. I wonder how many more times Notorious and Big Thing will be pushed back...

I've stopped hoping. I bet EMI will push back Spandau's True & Parade at the last minute as well.

This is not meant to start a debate, but I thought I would post my findings.

Curiosity got the best of me. I've read a lot of raves about the 2003 remaster of this album, so I bought a copy and received it today. I've always had the original CD pressing, and never purchased the 2003 version because I was not too pleased with the 2003 version of the first album. Anyway, for the technically geeky out there like myself, I took some screen grabs of "Of Crime and Passion" from the 1st issue CD and the 2003 remaster:

1st issue:
<a href="http://s76.photobucket.com/albums/j6/rubellan/?action=view¤t=CRIME1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j6/rubellan/CRIME1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

2003 remaster:
<a href="http://s76.photobucket.com/albums/j6/rubellan/?action=view¤t=CRIME2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j6/rubellan/CRIME2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

There's still a considerable amount of compression on that 2003 remaster, though it's still worse on the 2010 edition. When I levelled the "perceived" volume between the two so they sound the same volume, I find that I still prefer the original. This 2003 version is heading straight for my to-sell pile. It's a bummer when 20 year old CD masters are superior, but it seems to be the norm anymore...

Thanks for the post Rubellan. This was pretty revealing - especially since you chose one of my very fave D2 songs for the comparison.

Naturally I sold my original cd upon purchase of the '93 remaster, but I picked up a used copy a few years later out of pure nostalgia. Time to dust it off and give it a fresh spin!
