New Wave Tribute CD's

New Wave Tribute CD's

Does anyone else here collect New Wave Tribute CD's? I have "Various Artists for the Masses" a tribute to DM, "The Smiths are Dead", "The Duran Duran Tribute album" and one called "Gag Me with a Spoon".

I recently picked up the soundtrack to "Not Another Teen Movie" and found many of the covers to be very, very good. I especially liked the "Blue Monday", "The Metro" and "99 Red Balloons" covers. I know they were done by all the newer alt-rock bands (which I don't really like) but they adapted these songs to there style very well - imho.

I find that most of the new wave covers tend to "rockify" the songs and/or bring them into an entirely different genre of music. So if your looking for strait covers you probably should avoid these cd’s.

Please post any recommendation for new wave covers so I can expand my collection!
