Well I listened to the new Enz remasters the other day courtesy of Spaz. Despite a few track sequencing snafus, the quality and packaging is really superb. I love the screenprinted reproductions of the vinyl album sides on the CDs!
The remastering is really top notch and you'll hear clarity and separation like never before. The big news is that Frenzy and Corroboree have been completely remixed to how the band intended them to sound. Both albums suffered from murky sound and production.
Frenzy has been overhauled (again, like the 1981 U.S. reissue) and it's much cleaner, immediate and stripped down, almost completely devoid of reverb and other studio tricks. "Famous People" takes on a whole new life with an alternate, more relaxed percussion track, and "Abu Dhabi" has been extended (more likely restored) with more instrumentation and vocal bits. Other songs appear to have lost some of the overdubbed instrumentation, but it's not all that jarring. On Corroboree, the remixing on "Walking in the Ruins" and "Albert of India" was perhaps the most nocticeable. Listening to these albums "re-imagined" is a delight -- it's all still there (for the most part) and yet there's so much more that you never heard before ... it's almost a shock! For you purists out there -- don't dump your original CD copies of these two albums.

Thanks for the reviews MikeP! I have the Split Enz reissues on order from the Ideal Copy...based on your reviews I'm glad I dropped the bucks on these semi-pricey imports. BTW, do you know if True Colors is the same remaster that came out about two years ago?

I saw someone selling the "gold" boxed set of their first five LPs on Gemm for like $500.
Holy crap!
Is this thing really all that hard to get?
