New Wave Outpost Forum

I guess it's that time again to throw some ideas out and start talking about the next issue of Retro:Active. Here's what I would love to see:

1. King (12” Extended Version) – Ho Hokam
2. Dr. Sex (12” Extended Version) – Pleasure & The Beast
3. The Calling (Original Swedish 12” Version) – Ken Heaven
4. So Tired (12” Version) – Haircut 100
5. Tesla Girls (Remix not Extended Version) – OMD
6. Strangers In The Night (12” Version) – Peter Baumann
7. Touch (12” Version) – Noho
8. Spring In Fialta (12” Version) – Slow Children
9. Dancing On The Planet (12” Version) – David Storrs
10. Telephone (12” Version) – Style
11. Like A Ghost (12” Version) – Ignatius Jones
12. Close To You - Nine Ways To Win
13. Heartache Feeds Heartache - A Drop In The Grey
14. Gimme The Love - Kinky Go
15. Don't Leave Me - Cetu Javu
16. Heaven Is Waiting (12" Version) - The Danse Society
17. Secrets - Fiat Lux
18. The Message Is You - Gary Myrick
19. Anonymous - SSQ
20. Love Me - Punch

As always Sean, your selection of songs blows me away! I would love to see some of those songs included on volume 6

Here is what I would add

Cock Robin - The Promise You Made
Exude - Boys Just Wanna Have Sex

Original extended versions of those songs

Thanks, Justin/DevoManiac101

Great list Sean. There are some bands I`m not famillar with.
& props to your list as well DevoManiac.
I would like to add,
Xymox - Imagination (Extended Mix)
Fake - Brick (Extended Mix)
Motorcycle Boy - Big Rock Candy Mountain ( Never seen it on cd)
Midge Ure - If I Was (Extended Mix)
Alphaville-Jerusalem (Palace Version)
Tears For Fears - Suffer The Children (Remix)
Nik Kershaw-The Riddle(Extended Riddle)

There's two 12" mixes I am dying to have on CD:

Altered Images - "Don't Talk To Me About Love"
Portrait 12" #03923/Matrix # XSS 170956/Run time: 6:10

ABC - "The Look Of Love" (USA Remix - Dub Version)
Mercury 402/Matrix #2-56988/Run time: 7:37

There's also a great b-side by Real Life called "Like A Gun" (from the "Send Me An Angel" 12"), but since it's not extended or anything, it wouldn't qualify...however, it is "rare"!

"Words like conviction can turn into a sentence"

As good of choice "Don't Talk To Me About Love" is, the 12" extended version is already featured on an 80's 12" compilation titled - 12"/80's/2 it's a 3 CD collection that features a lot of great hard to find 12" versions, also the extended version was featured on the 2005 reissue of Bite, Altered Images third and final release as a bonus cut

Thanks, Justin/DevoManiac101

The Altered Images track would be enough for me to want it, considering it is one of the rare songs/versions that hasn't been put to CD yet. That being because the U.S. 12" version was a completely different mix to the UK 12" version.

Thanks guys. Alex where are you buddy? The Altered Images track that I would love to have and I think is still missing is the extended versions of "See Those Eyes". Also the US album version of "Another Lost Look" is much better than the UK version. I wish they would have stuck that on the "Bite" release instead of the UK version.

Justin, I tried to call you on your phone but cannot reach you. Did you change numbers?

By the way, great additions guys.

Another Lost Look is the same on the original UK and US album. If you're referring to the UK Bite CD reissue, that may be the problem. They screwed up and added the "Live" version of Another Lost Look on the CD instead of the original album version. This "Live" version was originally the B side to the Love To Stay single. There is a Japanese issue of Bite on CD that has the album proper, though it only has the original 8 songs. I have it and play that one far more than the botched UK CD.

Thanks for the info Rubellan. I have to track that Japanese release now. [:)]

Rubellan is right - this particular mix from the US 12" has never been released on CD. It's more of a "complete song" with lots of extra guitar, as opposed to a "remix."

I would love to see on CD:

1.Slow Children - Vanessa Vacillating (Special Remix) 4:52
2.Fun Boy Three - It Ain't What You Do (Extended) 5:52
3.Polyphonic Size - Mother's Little Helper
4.Rescue - Tell Me Now
5.Eurythmics - This Is The House (Extended)
6.Lene Lovich - Lucky Number (Extended) 4:32
7.Tim Scott - Swear (Extended) 5:15
8.Yello - Lost Again (Extended) 7:20
9.Danse Society - Heaven Is Waiting (Extended)
10.Wang Chung - Dance Hall Days (Extended)
11.Xymox - Imagination (Extended)
12.Vicious Pink - Fetish
14.Experimental Products - Mannequin/Love Changes

I believe the Dance Hall Days is on quite a few compilations. I think 12" 80's vol. 2 has that.

Actually, I meant to type Secession "Touch" and not Noho "Touch". I wouldn't mind either one though. [:)]

Polyphonic Size - "Mother's Little Helper" is on the Belgian "New Wave Club Class-X 1" CD compilation, as well as the harder to find "The Prime Story 1981-1991" Polyphonic Size compilation.
