Has anybody here listened to this album yet?
I read the customer reviews at Amazon, and they're all virtually gushing, but I appreciate the opinions of my fellow lurkers here more.

I agree Bri, I'd like to hear what people here may think about the album. I find it a little unusual that all the reviews at Amazon gush so because I had read a few other reviews that are definitely not as glowing.
So, anyone?

I've always been a Scritti fan.
Cupid & Psyche is my favorite & nothing can come close to it, so...
I think the new album is pretty good.
I look at it as being "experimental" such as Erasure self-titled or D2 Medazzaland.
I've only given it a few good listens so these are first impressions.
While listening the first time I noctied many influences.
The only one I remember now is the Beatles.

I like the new one but overall it's a bit too downtempo -- I liked Anomie & Bonhomie better -- the infusion of hip hop on that one worked surprisingly well.

I am going to be biased here because I love Green Gartsides twisted take on pop... This cd is no pop/dance cd like Provision or Cupid and Psyche, but its a really well written and produced album. Unlike Anomie, there is no hip hop this time, the songs are very Brian Wilson/Association/style 60's melody songs with unconventional lyrics and musical twists and turns. Its a very lush record at times and the melodies and lyrics are very interesting. My friend said that it's Green first album without worrying about being commercial and his creative side has made him make a cd he wanted.
Green's voice always pulls me in and his unconventional song lyrics have always been why i have enjoyed his music. I don't know if this record is for everyone, but if you invest in it, it's rewarding. At least i am still enjoying his songwriting and album output, I can't say the same for the Pet Shops Boys albums on a whole these days.

This CD is great. Virtually no new wave artist from the late 70s/early 80s is still making creative, listenable music. GG is one of the few exceptions.
