<br>I remember Native Tongue having an ep or two out, from my recollection they had a Gang of Four, Pylon kind of sound.[/quote]
I'm extremely late to the party, but they had an EP (self-titled, 1981) and an album ("Yowl," 1983), plus a compilation cut or two. (Their take on "Do You Hear What I Hear" off some Boston Xmas album comes to mind.) Forget Gang of Four; they were Mission of Burma copycats all the way. (Which was fine by me, because they were better songwriters than Mission of Burma.) "Yowl" is a pretty solid album, highlighted by the killer track "Blame It on Gravity" and the almost-as-good "Ali." Two-thirds of the band (Louis Selvitella and Lee Leffler) now perform as Torso. Total 180 from Native Tongue.

I don't know what the third dude (Michael Frackleton) is up to, but you can hear most of their catalogue at their new myspace page.

As for Maps, they did the "I'm Talking to You" single (which you can find on the "D.I.Y.: Mass Ave" CD). Their frontwoman, Judy Grunwald, went on to front Salem 66, who released 4 albums and an EP from '84-'90 (little of it very good).

I only remember Art Yard as the band that drummer Jim Clements was in before Radio Novena and Dumptruck. Radio Novena had a great minimalistic single, "My Spine," in 1982. Dumptruck released a truck-load of crap.

Hey Somebody, thanks for all the info. I got the "D.I.Y.: Mass Ave" on cassette from Pic 'n' Sav (now Big Lots) a few years back for 99 cnets... What a great tape, it's somewhere in the car... was that released on Rhino Records?
