2007 digitally remastered anthology of one of the best British pop singers to emerge in the 80's! Mari Wilson's beehive hairdo is practically legendary, pre-dating styles sported by Amy Winehouse, Lilly Allen, Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff. Wilson was the first to revive it in the eighties. With her faithful backing band, The Wilsations and backup singers The Marionettes in tow, she criss crossed the UK and Europe with one of the most entertaining shows of the decade. Her hits included 'Just What I Always Wanted' and 'Cry Me A River' from the album Showpeople. Midway thru the decade, she changed musical direction, taking more of a jazz approach and playing with a quartet and took roles in the theatre, particularly the lead in 'Dusty-The Musical' as Dusty Springfield. She also recorded the theme song to the hit TV series Coupling, 'Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps', included on this set. Also includes the rarity of a Spanish version of 'Cry Me A River'.

I'm so pleased that this will be made available. I could never find any information concerning Mari Wilson. I actually thought she was from The Supremes or something like that. I only heard "Just What I Always Wanted" maybe just two times in my life but it never left me. I was so happy to find that Razormaid! did an extended version a few years ago, so I had my fix. I'm interested in hearing more from her. Back in the early 1980's, Philadelphia's "I-92" played the most eclectic tracks in the format they called, "Rock Of The 80's" and this is where I heard said song. How interesting it was to hear early Ministry, Shriekback and Wide Boy Awake along with this 60's sounding track with the electronic production. Ah, what memories!!!
